The RVA funded four affinity groups (business, engineering, sciences & education) to host breakfast meetings or afternoon coffee with student veterans from those colleges and prospective employers. Two recent meetings has representatives from Google and Sandia National Labs meet with the students. While not a job fair, these gatherings allow the students to ask questions of companies who will be hiring graduates in the near future. It also provides a forum for dialogue on what the employers are looking for and what specific qualifications will be most attractive in the work place. Being informal allows the students to ask questions that might not be relevant in an interview and for the companies to ask students about subjects and topics that are immediately germane to them. A true win win for all.
